Which one would you choose: Pentium or AMD?

It has been quite a while since i last followed the latest development in microprocessor technology sold in the market. I don't even know what's the difference between Intel Pentium dual core or pentium duo 2. So, if i have no idea about the latest processors, how can i compare which one would be better: pentium or AMD??

Uhm.. i often read papers from IEEE*. Virtually all papers that i need for my research can be found through that journal. Now, being an IEEE journal 'fanatic' reader for more than a year now hehe.. i've found that i had read more papers on intel processors than papers discussing AMDs. As a a matter of fact, none of the papers i use in my research came from any AMD employee, if you can rely on my memory :)

So.. just to give a bit more illustration about this matter, i want to show you a comparison of several searches i've made on the IEEE explore website.
Keyword: intel
Results for "(intelmetadata)"
Your search matched 3995 of 1401832 documents.

Keyword: pentium
Results for "(pentiummetadata)"
Your search matched 802 of 1401832 documents.

Keyword: amd
Results for "(amdmetadata)"
Your search matched 262 of 1401832 documents.

Keyword: interconnect AND amd
Results for "( ( interconnectmetadata ) ( amdmetadata ) )"
Your search matched 16 of 1401832 documents.

Keyword: interconnect AND pentium
Results for "( ( interconnectmetadata ) ( pentiummetadata ) )"
Your search matched 32 of 1401832 documents.

Keyword: bus AND amd
Results for "( ( busmetadata ) ( amdmetadata ) )"
Your search matched 9 of 1401832 documents.

Keyword: bus AND intel
Results for "( ( busmetadata ) ( pentiummetadata ) )"
Your search matched 39 of 1401832 documents.

From these statistics, one conclusion that i may draw is the fact that Intel people contribute more to this exciting field of microelectronics than people from AMD. Well, this may not be wholely true, since papers with "intel" keywords need not necessarily be written by an Intel employee. Nevertheless, research papers working on intel and pentium seems to be significantly larger than that of the AMDs..

I think i will stick on Intel for the moment... hehe :)
